General Description
The Seminole County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for the position of PROGRAM SPECIALIST ASSIGNED TO THE JUVENILE ENFORCEMENT CENTER.
The Program Specialist will complete general technical, analytical and professional administrative work in support of the the Juvenile Enforcement Center.

Typical Duties

REFERENCE PROGRAM SPECIALIST VIA JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Provides a variety of services to the assigned division, department, or section
Ability to conduct interviews and document interviews
Plans and coordinates the development, implementation, and execution of programs and special projects
Analyze and assembles data, prepares letters, notices, reports, and other correspondence
Utilize division/department specific software to assist, gather, investigate and/or compile information for the assigned division or section
Maintains the necessary files and records to insure access to information
Scanning of documents into different software systems and providing technical support
Prepares confidential documents as required
Follow the scope of services identified in Contract #10473 and SNAP Contract between the Department of Juvenile Justice, the Florida Network and Seminole County Sheriff’s Office. Follow any and all amendments to the scope of services outlined in these contracts
Attend required training specific to job related functions
Performs all other duties as assigned or required
Minimum Qualifications
REFERENCE PROGRAM SPECIALIST VIA JOB DESCRIPTIONS
High School Diploma or GED; Associate's Degree preferred
Two (2) years clerical experience
Consideration may be given to equivalent combination of related training, education and experience
Ability to type at least 30 correct wpm - a typing test will be administered as part of the application process
Must be able to become N/FCIC certified within six (6) months of appointment to the position
Internal applicants must have completed the Seminole County Sheriff's Office one (1) year probationary period
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License

REFERENCE PROGRAM SPECIALIST VIA JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Regular and prompt attendance is mandatory in the performance of an employee's duties for this position, to include scheduled work hours, and required training activities, calls for mandatory overtime needs and calls for service during times of an emergency.
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, business English, spelling, punctuation, arithmetic, modern office practices and procedures, including record-keeping methods; of all SCSO computer programs such as Café, SCSONet, MICAD, TUSCON and ability to become FCIC/NCIC certified if needed for assignment.
Ability to maintain confidential information; to work independently and with little supervision on a variety of complex issues; to research, organize, and prepare accurate reports, summaries, and/or tabulations; to meet with and maintain effective working relationships with other departments, agencies, offices, and the general public.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The work environment for this position is in an office atmosphere. Work is generally performed during normal business hours although the incumbent may be required to work any schedule that fulfills the needs of the position. Some assignments may be within the confines of a correctional facility, have direct contact with inmates or prior inmates, and/or be subject to an "on call" status.

External applicants for employment will submit to a thorough background investigation, which includes, but not limited to, past employment/education verification, driver license review, credit history, prior drug use history, arrest/conviction record, and computerized voice stress analysis (CVSA) testing. A certified examiner administers the CVSA with questions addressing illegal drug use and general questions of honesty and criminal history. Any dishonesty or deception on the Employment Application will disqualify your application.
The background investigation process may take 3-6 months depending upon the complexity of the applicant's background and position for which you've applied. Applicants selected for employment will be provided a conditional offer and required to submit to a medical examination with drug screening.
Candidates must also comply with the Agency’s current Tattoo and Body Ornamentation Policy. A copy of General Order 28 - Dress and Appearance can be accessed here. An applicant’s tattoos and body ornamentation must be disclosed at the time of application and will be documented as part of the agency’s review process, even if otherwise meeting the Agency’s policy.
