ABOUT THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT:

The Public Works Services Department's mission is to provide efficient stewardship of the City's public works infrastructure.

Staff: 161 Employees (FT and PT)

Facilities: Services 15 City facilities and 8 Fire District facilities

Parks and Landscape: Maintains 31 parks, Adult Sports Park and baseball stadium, 125 street front miles of landscape, and a comprehensive inventory of trees, paseos, and trails.

Street/Fleet/Storm Drain: Maintains 534 roadway miles, including 4,004 catch basins and 226 signalized intersections, and provides fleet maintenance for 166 vehicles and over 140 pieces of on and off-road equipment.

Administration/Project Management: Manages departmental support services, contracts, safety and risk management, budget, and capital maintenance projects.

You’ll be responsible for:

Supporting Public Works Services Operations Divisions with bidding, budget, grant and contract management

Creating and maintaining a collaborative relationship with other City department personnel to deliver quality services to our community

Gathering and maintaining performance measures of department operations and making recommendations for improvement

Assisting with the department’s social media strategy and content to support service delivery

Participating in the development of goals and workplans for the department

ABOUT THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT:

The City of Rancho Cucamonga Economic Development Division serves as a liaison between the City and the business community. Economic Development is responsible for encouraging business investment opportunities and supporting business retention, expansion and attraction activities in Rancho Cucamonga.

The Economic Development Team is committed to driving the local economy, advancing the economic vibrancy and sustainability of our City, and enhance quality of life for our residents and businesses.

You’ll be responsible for:

Helping to implement the City’s Economic Development Strategy

Developing relationships with our business community and strategic partners to foster job creation and growth

Working with our communications team to develop impactful materials to support our economic development goals

Managing and creating content for the department’s social media channels

Working across teams to assist with administering and implementation of the City’s Community Block Grant program

Participating in the development of goals and workplans for the department

Gathering, analyzing, and maintaining data and statistics on local businesses, the local economy and job market, the local housing market, and other related areas

Gathering and maintaining data and statistics on department operations and making recommendations for improvement

Assist with creating content for the department's social media channels and webpage

ARE YOU QUALIFIED

Education and/or Experience:

Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree in Public or Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field; and six months of experience conducting research and analysis or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.

Examples of Acceptable Substitutions:

Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Public or Business Administration or Accounting, or a related field, plus six months of experience conducting research and analysis or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.

Substitution: A total of 4.5 years of increasingly responsible experience in conducting research and analysis, may substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of the principles of research, statistical analysis and report preparation; organization and functions of the assigned municipal department; principles of accounting and auditing; methods and procedures of budget preparation; computer applications in administrative functions; general office procedures. Ability to perform specialized administrative tasks; conduct research, perform analysis, and prepare and present reports of findings; work independently; interpret and apply related laws, ordinances and policies; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; meet the public in situations requiring diplomacy and tact; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Special Requirements:

Depending upon assignment, possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record may be required.
