The Prince George’s County Office of the State's Attorney is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Circuit Court Division Receptionist (General Clerk 3G) position, Grade G10, in the Circuit Court Administrative Support Unit.
About the Position
This is advanced-level clerical technical work involving more difficult and diverse clerical responsibilities in the Circuit Court Division. Work is performed independently under general supervision, within a framework of established policies, procedures, and regulations. Work performance is evaluated in terms of quantity, quality, and accuracy. Incumbents must maintain an awareness of information, which is confidential and is responsible for determining what data may or may not be released. Incumbents must be cognizant of applicable policies and procedures to ensure the highest degree of conformance.

The Office will be responsive to the very diverse community of Prince George’s County, treating every person with dignity and respect. The State's Attorney's Office (SAO) is responsible for serving nearly one million residents of Prince George's County. The SAO's legal department is divided into multiple divisions, each of which has jurisdiction over different facets of criminal law.
Examples of Work
Serve as the general receptionist and telephone duties for all calls into the State's Attorney's Office at the Circuit Court Receptionist Desk.
Greet and assist all individuals who come into the office.
Provide customer services and telephone reception duties by courteously answering the telephone, and assisting staff, the public, and other County employees with accurate public information.
Handle a large volume of calls and visitors daily.
Utilize public contact and techniques and telephone interviewing skills.
Maintain confidentiality of all communications; including letters, reports, records, forms, and memoranda or verbal conversations.
Sort, organize, and manage mail distribution for all divisions within the State's Attorney Office.
Coordinate subpoenas for division.
Establish, revise, and maintain files to ensure easy retrieval and tracking of documents.
File official documents in appropriate locations.
Perform tasks and duties assigned which may not be specifically listed in the position description but are within the general occupational category and responsibility with the employee's type of work.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Must have experience at the General Clerk II level equal to the length of the probationary periodOR
High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate
Six (6) months of varied clerical experience
Any equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience may be accepted.

Preferred Qualifications
Comprehensive knowledge and experience utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Ability to create and edit various memoranda and business communications.
Ability to maintain a professional image with face-to-face contact with division staff, County Government Officials, vendors, and the public.
Ability to exercise a professional approach and deportment on telephone communications, including routing calls, written correspondence, email, etc., are required.
Ability to take the initiative, use good judgment, exercise independent decision-making, and provide excellent customer service.
