St. Francis Yacht Club is one of the premier yacht clubs in the world, home to 3,200 esteemed and diverse members, all of whom share a passion for yachting. Located on the shore of the San Francisco Bay, the City Clubhouse features three unique dining spaces, numerous elegant event spaces and athletic facilities for junior sailors and adults alike. The Club's regatta schedule is one of the most competitive in the world, playing host to 140+ days of racing, including several Grade 1 International regattas.

Position: TemporaryCatering and Events Manager

Type: Full Time, Exempt
Pay: $6,000 - $7,000/month
Job Summary
Responsible for day-to-day catering services. Develop contracts for and oversee administrative and operational aspects of selling, preparing and executing events and catered parties. Work with banquets and other departments to ensure that the members' and guests' expectations are exceeded, and the highest quality food and service are delivered.
Additionally, the catering and events manager works closely with and advises various member committees in planning activities.
Job Tasks
Help member clients arrange banquets, luncheons, meetings, weddings, dances and other social events; obtain pertinent information needed for guest planning.
Creates, in detail and distributes in-house banquet event orders (BEOs) that include room layout, banquet item placement and related function details.
Oversee the development of contracts including working with the Executive Chef to determine selling prices, menus and other details for catered events.
Assists members in arrangements for special dinner requests in the dining room.
Transmits necessary information to and coordinates event planning with production, serving and housekeeping staff; arranges for printing of menus, procuring of decorations, entertainment, and other special requests, etc.
Inspect finished arrangements and ensure accurate reader information prior to beginning any function.
Present to oversee the actual greeting and serving of guests.
Responsible for hands-on service work when needed and orchestrating events when necessary.
Manages complaints.
Maintains past and potential client files; schedules calls or visits to assess ongoing needs of prospective clients for catering services.
Helps develop catering budgets; reviews financial reports and takes corrective actions as appropriate to help assure that budget goals are met.
Represents members' needs and interests on applicable club committees.
Obtains necessary permits for special events and functions.
Ensures the security of club members and guests' valuables during catered events.
Assumes responsibility of manager-on-duty when necessary.
Manages banquet billing and arranges prompt payment for all events.
Ensures the Club's master calendar on the website and in Caterease (catering software) are accurate and up to date.
Any other projects or responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Events and Catering or Clubhouse Manager
