The High Point University NCAA Dance Head Coach shall be responsible for supporting the leading, coordinating and coaching of the program in a manner consistent with High Point University’s vision, mission and values and within the designated budget. This team member has the opportunity to create an environment that nurtures the development of students as athletes and as members of the community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience and Training:
Dance choreography experience, successful experience in coaching dance, and program administration preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree in related fields
Experience Coaching and developing athletes who have a range of skill levels, goals and abilities (including those with high performance goals and those who seek being a team member)
Certified as necessary
Valid First Aid certificate (minimum Basic First Aid with CPR C/AED)
Valid Driver’s License
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
Experience planning and implementing training plans and competition and selection protocols
Experience managing and coordinating an athletic program of some form
Organized
Flexible hours to include some nights and weekends
Demonstrated ability to coach sound techniques
Competence in current sports training technologies
Familiar with safety rules and procedures
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), and social media
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
Program Management and Development
Designs and implements a program to develop athletes. This includes establishing goals, structure and direction for the program as a whole.
Works with the Associate Athletic Director for Intercollegiate Club Sports to develop a 3-year program plan and implement.
Coaching and Athlete Development
Coaches all members of the HPU Program for the Fall and Spring Semesters.
Establishes consistent and transparent training plans and selection and athlete monitoring protocols.
Recruits’ athletes to the program.
Organizes and maintains up to date registration, contact and medical information.
Arranges all aspects of competitions and schedule with the Assistant AD
Communication
In cooperation with the athletic department, maintains and disseminates information, including registration process and timelines (comprehensive of publicizing on Website and Social Media).
Ensures that the High Point University Vision, Mission, Values and Policies (especially with regard to safety and equipment) are understood and adhered to by all athletes.
Equipment
Informs Assistant Athletic Director of all equipment and other needs of the program.
Liaises with the Assistant Athletic Director to ensure equipment is in working order.
