As the pioneer and world leader of the oil-free centrifugal compressor product category with its award winning Variable Speed, Magnetic Bearing Compressors, Danfoss Turbocor is dedicated to the design, manufacture, marketing and support of the world’s most efficient commercial refrigerant compressors. The result is the world’s first oil-free compressor specifically designed for the HVAC industry. The Electronics Engineering team is developing new power electronics for our next generation of products. The candidate will play an integral role in supporting the design, integration, and validation of these new power electronics.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Participating in schematic and PCB layout design reviews looking for deficiencies or improvements.

Performing validation tests of new power electronic products to ensure they meet our requirements

Hardware prototyping / modifying to verify or improve function performance

Reviewing bill-of-materials to find improvements to the design or sourcing

Investigating hardware failures to find root causes and determine corrective actions

Background & Skills

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering

Currently enrolled and pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering

Sound knowledge of traditional and modern power electronic technologies including but not limited to:

Inverter technology for motor variable speed drive (IGBT, MOSFET, rectifiers and gate driver PWM technologies)

Power electronics system architecture design and hardware integration

New trends in IGBT and MOSFET driver technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with motor drive and power converters (AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC) control technologies

Experience in control, circuit and system simulation tools (PSpice, LTSPICE, MATLAB, PSIM)

Able to contribute as a member of an organized project team of engineers

Analytical and technical skills with a strong desire to learn

Experience with lab equipment (Multimeters, Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, Soldering Irons)
