We are seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef with proven experience in high-volume catering and a strong background in scratch kitchens. The ideal candidate is a reliable team player with a passion for food, leadership, and delivering memorable culinary experiences to groups of 200 or more people.
Sous Chef Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Executive Chef in the preparation, execution, and oversight of all catered events
Lead and supervise kitchen staff during prep and event service
Ensure food quality, consistency, and presentation standards are met or exceeded
Manage kitchen inventory, food ordering, and prep lists
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen environment
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff
Support menu planning, tastings, and client customizations
Work off-site at event locations as needed, ensuring smooth service execution
Sous Chef Requirements/Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience in a Sous Chef or Lead Cook role
Must have a valid Drivers License
Prior experience in high-volume catering or banquet service (200+ guests required)
Proven background in scratch cooking and recipe execution
Strong organizational, time management, and leadership skills
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and flexible hours based on event schedule
ServSafe certification preferred
Reliable transportation and ability to travel to event sites around Southern Indiana
