Job Summary
The credit manager is responsible for managing and monitoring credit approvals, evaluating customer creditworthiness, setting credit limits, and ensuring timely collection of outstanding accounts. They work closely with internal teams such as accounting, finance, and sales to optimize cash flow while minimizing credit risk.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Risk Assessment: Evaluate creditworthiness of customers or clients by reviewing financial statements, payment history, and credit reports. Develop risk mitigation strategies where necessary.
Credit Approval & Limits: Make decisions on credit applications, including setting appropriate credit limits that align with the company’s risk tolerance and business objectives.
Collection Activities: Oversee collections to ensure timely payments. Address overdue accounts by negotiating payment plans, initiating legal proceedings if necessary, or recommending write-offs.
Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports to management on credit risk exposure, collections status, and related financial metrics.
Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with clients to facilitate timely payments, support customer satisfaction, and solve disputes or billing concerns.
Team Management: Supervise and guide credit and collections team members, providing training, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
Auditing and Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and company policies in all credit functions. Conduct regular audits of credit-related activities for accuracy.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in corporate credit management, supervisory experience mandatory.
