Job Description
The Payroll Administrator/Sr Payroll Specialist provides administrative support to the Payroll/Accounting Manager and ensures the accuracy of our weekly payroll for 500+ employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for personnel record maintenance for 500 + employees including address/banking/withholding changes.
Maintain job lists/cost codes/crew timesheets in timekeeping platform (HH2).
Audit new hire entries in Paylocity to ensure wages/taxes/travel time will be correct
Complete written/verbal verification of employment and unemployment responses
Send State specific information to job supervisors and maintain compliant materials
Update State specific payroll procedures as needed
Initiate-implement new payroll platforms and procedures
Ability to balance payroll to general ledger monthly and verify year-end totals
Create-maintain SOP manual for department
Back-up payroll specialists for weekly manual payroll process
Ad hoc projects, as needed
Required Skills/Abilities:
Able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written format
Understanding of multi-state payroll tax deductions/deposits/returns
Able to multi-task while working under strict deadlines while paying attention to details
Accurate data entry skills
Excellent Excel/Word skills
Education and Experience:
Accounting Degree preferred
8+ years of multi-state payroll experience required
Previous construction/manufacturing administration experience preferred
