Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Systems Administrator to join our team in Bakersfield, California. This role involves managing a mixed Linux and Windows environment, supporting both on-premise systems and cloud-based applications. As a Contract-to-permanent position, this opportunity offers a pathway to long-term employment for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
• Manage and maintain a hybrid infrastructure, including Linux and Windows systems, ensuring optimal performance and security.
• Provide technical support for escalated issues and assist entry-level IT team members with troubleshooting and resolution.
• Oversee system patching, upgrades, and maintenance to ensure systems remain up-to-date and secure.
• Administer and support key applications, including Google Workspace, Byte, and HR/payroll systems.
• Monitor and maintain a self-managed disaster recovery site located in a Los Angeles colocation facility.
• Support and manage cloud-hosted web applications, ensuring their reliability and performance.
• Utilize a cloud-based ticketing system to track and resolve IT issues efficiently.
• Collaborate with entry-level IT staff to foster knowledge-sharing and focused development.• 1–4 years of experience in systems administration, with hands-on expertise in Linux and Windows environments.
• Strong understanding of Linux security and related technologies.
• Proficiency in managing Google Workspace and other enterprise applications.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
• Solid communication and organizational skills to work effectively within a team.
• Familiarity with patch management and system upgrade processes.
• Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation.
• Knowledge of cloud-hosted application management and support.
