Job Description
We are looking for an Entry-Level Accountant to join our team on a contract basis with a client located in Las Vegas, Nevada. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in accounting principles, a knack for working with large data sets, and proficiency in tools such as QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel. The entry level accountant must have at least an Associate's Degree, pursuing a bachelor's or having completed your Bachelor's degree. Graduate students are encouraged to apply as the client is willing to provide flexibility once the school year starts back up. The position involves a mix of routine accounting tasks, month-end close activities, and ad hoc financial projects.
Responsibilities for the Staff Accountant
• Prepare and post journal entries accurately and efficiently.
• Perform detailed reconciliations, including balance sheet accounts, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Export and analyze financial data from QuickBooks, utilizing Excel for reporting and analysis.
• Assist with accounts payable tasks, including invoice coding, processing, and check runs.
• Contribute to month-end close processes, handling expense accounts such as rents, IT expenses, and capital expenditures.
• Develop and distribute financial reports, including PowerPoint presentations for executive meetings.
• Address post-close items and support ad hoc accounting projects as needed.
• Leverage tools like Monday.com to track and organize assigned tasks effectively.
• Utilize advanced Excel functions, such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and SUMIF, to manage and interpret large data sets.
• Follow documented standard operating procedures (SOPs) and utilize available training resources for task execution.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or a graduate student pursuing their Bachelor's degree.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks, with a solid understanding of general ledger coding.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions like pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and INDEX.
• Experience with accounts payable processes, including invoice processing and reconciliations.
• Ability to handle large data sets comfortably and perform detailed financial analysis.
• Familiarity with month-end close procedures and reporting requirements.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage tasks using tools like Monday.com.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all accounting functions.
