M-D is seeking an Extrusion Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily extrusion operations, ensuring that production goals are met while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes. The Extrusion supervisor will play a key role in fostering a positive work environment and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Maintain the safety of all employees and the equipment in the department
Ensure all safety standards and policies are enforced daily
Ensure all equipment and machinery are always in useable condition and are in proper working order by daily walks/inspections
Daily management of assigned personnel to meet or exceed customer expectations and goals for the operation
Ensure all quality specifications and customer expectations are met or exceeded
Ensure all data required is recorded accurately and in a timely manner
Time/Attendance tracking and approval for all assigned personnel
Tracking and communication of key metrics for the operation
Ensure all personnel are trained and perform to established standards
Ensure standards are met consistently in assigned areas
Employee performance counseling and disciplinary policy enforcement if warranted
Actively identify and pursue continuous improvement opportunities in assigned areas utilizing employee input as much as possible
Facilitate, lead and maintain continuous improvement (M-D Way) initiatives in the department.
Work closely with material handlers and team leaders to help them schedule their day around the department’s dispatch schedule.
Prepare and maintain documentation in connection with work orders, reports, scrap reports, and safety inspections.
Responsible for shop floor paper, willingness to be trained in using Oracle software and the ability to assist in the training of other departmental employees in the use of Oracle Software.
Maintain inventories of materials on hand for subsequent processing and prepare requisitions for supplies and materials as needed to maintain production.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
3+ years’ experience in aluminum extrusion or related manufacturing
2+ years of management/supervisory experience
Proficient in the use of precision measurement tools, including micrometers and calipers.
Strong knowledge of Aluminum Association standards
Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead teams, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and able to meet the physical demands of the role (e.g., standing, walking, lifting, machinery interaction).
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:
Experience in process improvement, lean manufacturing principles, and optimizing production workflow a plus
Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and a commitment to accuracy and quality control.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and operations teams.
