Summary You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the Engineering Division of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.
This announcement is for an Upward Mobility Program position.
Responsibilities You will take the lead as tasked, with the identification, evaluation, and resolution of waterfront technical problems, and test and documentation deficiencies.
You will develop and recommend changes and coordinate implementation of resolution.
You will manage, research, define test requirements and specifications (including drawings and sketches), evaluates and analyzes data, and provide technical engineering reports to support and accomplish unrestricted operation program requirements.
You will evaluate perceived TRIDENT submarine (and other class ships) design deficiencies to determine if the source of deficient conditions may result from inadequate Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) and propose corrective actions as appropriate.
You will act as a technical liaison between TRIREFFAC, SUBBASE, SWFPAC, NAVSEA, COMSUBPAC, CSS-17 N4, SUBMEPP, and Planning Yard Design Agent.

The entry level for this position is GS-09 with a full performance level of GS-12.
Knowledge of employees selected may vary and will require the development of an individually tailored training plan to assist them in qualifying for the full performance level of this position.
Eligibility requires that the employee be performing satisfactorily, complete all training requirements, acquire the requisite qualifications and have met time-in-grade eligibility for career ladder promotions.
This recruitment is open to current UIC 4523A employees with experience at the WG-10 grade level or higher demonstrating the basic knowledge, skills, and ability evaluating technical engineering procedures or work methods to identify, evaluate or resolve operational problems or work control deficiencies to recommend improved work procedures or corrective action in support of the repair, modification, or overhaul of ships or submarines.

Education In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify for the GS-09 Grade Level with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree OR A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience A transcript must be submitted with your application if qualifying using education.
