Job Title: Project Engineer Location: Gary, Indiana Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Project Engineer to join our dynamic team in Gary, Indiana.
The Project Engineer will play a crucial role in executing multiple concurrent expense and capital projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
This position involves supporting front-end concept design, coordinating project execution, and overseeing project closeout.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities: Schedule and cross-track multi-discipline engineering and construction projects to ensure seamless execution.
Collaborate with internal teams (Operations, Inspection, Engineering, HSE, etc.) to define project requirements and objectives.
Coordinate with internal and external design/engineering resources, procurement, contractors, and site personnel to facilitate successful project completion.
Monitor, manage, and control project progress to ensure alignment with client requirements, timelines, and budgets.
Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of engineering project baselines in collaboration with Leads and other engineering staff.
Prepare and communicate detailed project reports to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Identify, forecast, and manage potential risks that could impact project success.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations throughout the engineering project lifecycle.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders, fostering strong relationships.
Conduct quality control and analysis of project work, including costs, schedules, and performance metrics, with weekly reporting to relevant parties.
Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and other team members to provide technical assistance and support.
Liaise with the Project Manager to uphold a commitment to customer satisfaction.
Perform other duties as assigned to support project goals.
Requirements: Bachelor of Engineering (B.
Eng) from a recognized post-secondary institution.
A minimum of 10 years of project engineering/project management experience in industrial projects, with exposure to multi-discipline environments.
Preferred experience in the Steel/Metals industry; experience in Blast Furnace areas is a plus.
Registration as a Professional Engineer (EIT/P.E.) is an asset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project). Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is a plus.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively communicate goals and achievements across all organizational levels.
Working Conditions: Physical Environment: Steel Mill Worksite Physical Effort: Sitting for extended periods while using a computer and peripherals.
Standing and/or walking for extended periods.
Driving on public and private roadways, as well as active construction sites.
Working outdoors in an active plant environment.
Work hours may occasionally exceed standard working hours.
