TECHNICAL WRITER WITH ROBOHELP AND ADOBE CREATIVE SUITE Job Description & Skill Requirement Working Skills • Use existing RoboHelp templates to design additional procedural content.
• At least a basic understanding of Engineering workflow and PLM processes.
• Ability to create process maps that correlate to procedural tasks for end users.
• Ability to synthesize existing information and transform it into user content.
• Ability to take notes and apply work direction when given.
• Apply RoboHelp styles to content; ability to modify styles globally as needed.
• Ability to be self-driven, interview SMEs, and conduct content reviews.
• Ability to solve technical problems.
• Ability to review software applications and formulate productive questions to increase understanding for documenting processes.
• Ability to navigate software applications and quickly learn how to use them.
• Ability to apply attention to detail when developing content (consistent language, use snippets, format screen images according to established standards). • Ability to work with screen images through RoboHelp, renaming, using Snipping Tool and Paint to edit for consistent appearance.
• Research advanced technical data and develop procedures through source content, interviews, on-site visits, and production observations.
Leadership Skills • Provide leadership support, training, and assistance to junior-level technical writers on projects and processes, and report project status to senior management.
• Proof and edit documentation of other writers for conformance to style and format.
• Provide consultation and support to senior management on special projects, process changes, and strategies.
• Schedule and conduct review meetings to approve new or revised publications.
• Develop and revise style guides to meet the company's specific needs and lead efforts on internal and external process improvements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Training and guidance to junior-level technical writers toward project delivery.
• When appropriate, serve as a lead on special projects beyond documents by working collaboratively with senior management to define the scope of work and budget to meet project deliverables.
• Proficiency with authoring and desktop publishing tools, specifically MS Word, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop). • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 products, including Outlook, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint • Ability to gather and assess documentation to create and update user documentation in compliance with Engineering technical input, best practices, and department standards.
• Has a high technical aptitude for translating highly technical concepts into understandable content for the end user.
• Ability to balance work volume and quality and appropriately escalate potential risks and issues to management.
• Must be able to work independently and collaborate with a team to publish high-quality technical documentation.
