Desktop Support Technician

Astronics-PECO is located in picturesque Clackamas, Oregon near the foothills of Mt. Hood and designs, certifies, manufactures, and sells a wide range of products to commercial, government, and military markets throughout the world. Our highly engineered interior and structural aerospace products are supplied to the largest aircraft manufacturers and are installed in aircraft around the globe, and our military products are used in critical national defense applications. The Max-Viz enhanced visions systems (EVS) are designed and certified for use as an improvement to safety by a vast array of airplanes, helicopters, and unmanned-aerial-vehicles in the commercial, government, and military marketplace. PECO-Controls are well established temperature control devices designed for applications where high quality is a must, such as the hospitality industry, commercial cooking, and other critical applications.

We are looking for a tech-savvy Desktop Support Technician with a “can do” attitude to join our IT team. You will join our existing IT team to provide support including installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all PC hardware, software, and equipment to ensure optimal performance. You will need be able to troubleshoot problems in person, by phone, and/or via email. The timely and accurate response is of the upmost importance to minimize user downtime.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Document, track, and prioritize IT tickets

Respond and resolve Helpdesk tickets in a timely manner

Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair computer hardware, software, and associated equipment

Attend Quality Manual Standards Training and applies Quality Standards accordingly

Analyze user needs and recommend appropriate desktop configurations according to corporate standards

Sets up and maintain inventory of PCs, notebook computers, tablets, printers, and audio video equipment

Maintain optimal performance of desktop computers and printers by conducting routine preventative maintenance

Installs and configures software

Maintain security, anti-virus programs, email, and user files

Ensure system integrity, assist in installation of technical upgrades

Provide input to prolong system life or to recommend timely replacement

Recommend improved operational procedures to maximize system efficiency

Provide guidance in solving complex operations malfunctions and perform telecommunications trouble shooting.

Works with outside vendors as needed.

This position may require knowledge of SOX / 404 internal audit controls and related documentation and this position may be responsible for the performance of various functions that may be an integral part of the Company’s overall SOX / 404 internal control structure.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience with Windows 10 in a corporate network environment

Minimum of one-year related experience installing and maintaining computers; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, and related network services (i.e., DNS, SMTP, DHCP, etc.)

Knowledge of Active Directory concepts and administration

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in oral, diagram or schedule form

Possess strong analytical skills and effective interpersonal and communication skills to interact with a wide range of users having different levels of computer expertise

Ability to organize, prioritize work and make decisions

Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and employees

Report to work consistently and on time
