Summary - Job Responsibilities - Activities: Assemble, modify, test, and adjust custom mechanical assemblies and apparatus applying knowledge of various assembly techniques and referring to shop drawings and instructions.
Functions: * Lifting to 75 pounds may be required.
* Read and understand blueprints, drawings, wiring diagrams, mechanical prints, assembly and schematic drawings, and receive verbal instructions on work to be performed.
* Fasten, align, and mount parts, components, relays, using hand and power tools.
Route and terminate cables.
* Attach hardware using nuts, bolts, rivets, screws, or other methods.
Cut, bend, grind, de-burr, and mount bus bar.
* Examine parts/ components that are installed to verify they are free from damage and defects.
Notify supervisor if found.
* Operate basic hand tools, saws, punches, grinders, drills.
* Clean equipment, wipe clean, vacuum, or blow out metal chips and dirt.
Perform work duties as assigned.
* Clean up shop area of tools and work at the end of each shift.
Education - Experience: * Must have a have a high school/ GED degree * Be able operate basic hand tools * Lifting, bending, climbing ladders will be routine * Prior mechanical fabrication experience Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs: * Must be able to perform work duties as assigned and perform a variety of assembly duties which may change often.
* Plan, lay-out, assemble, and install components and assemblies within fabricated steel assemblies per shop drawings.
* Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, control drawings, or products specifications to determine sequence and methods of assembly, basic wiring, and installing of components and hardware.
* Ensures proper components are installed in appropriate sequence, per established methods, instructions, and drawings.
* Measure out and mark dimensions and reference lines for installation of components.
* Install components such as disconnect switches, ground switch, relays, vacuum switches, interlocks, windows, door-stays, locks, capacitors, fuses, reactors, CT's, PT's, CPT's, ground bus, phase bus, conductors, insulators, hardware, etc.
* Maintain proper clearances phase-to-phase and phase-to ground.
* Ensure properly rated conductors, wire, lugs are utilized.
* Perform process audits as requested.
* Must understand and comply with NEPSI quality system requirements and Health & Safety Programs.
