JOB SUMMARY

The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the organization's IT infrastructure. This role includes managing the network, system administration, automation, cybersecurity, and support across the organization. The position requires hands-on experience with networking, server administration, scripting, identity and access management, and IT budgeting. The engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the availability, performance, and security of IT systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Design, implement, and maintain scalable IT systems and network infrastructures (servers, storage, routers, switches, firewalls).

Monitor and optimize system performance, capacity, and availability; apply patches, updates, and security measures (MFA, SSO, TLS/SSL, antivirus).

Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues; provide escalated support to the IT helpdesk.

Coordinate IT operations across multiple sites, including regular travel.

Configure and manage network protocols (FTP, DHCP, DNS, SMTP, TCP), VPNs, and firewalls; oversee local, FTP, web, and SQL servers.

Use Microsoft Endpoint Management to configure devices, ensure compliance, and manage user access via Microsoft Entra and Microsoft 365.

Leverage PowerShell, C#, and APIs to automate tasks (e.g., printer deployments, registry edits) and improve monitoring and ticketing systems.

Implement backup, recovery, and continuity plans for on-premises and cloud environments; regularly test data integrity and failover procedures.

Manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and integrate with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Conduct security training (KnowBe4), monitor logs for threats, and use Microsoft Defender for remediation; develop and enforce IT security policies.

Maintain documentation on systems and processes; generate reports on performance, security, and compliance.

Collaborate on cross-functional teams, act as a technical lead, and make cost-effective IT infrastructure decisions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Certification:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or 3+ years' experience in a related field.

Professional certifications such as Microsoft 365 Fundamentals, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, or CompTIA Network+ are desirable.

Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in systems engineering, network administration, or a similar role.

Proven experience with server virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), networking, and storage systems.

Experience managing cloud infrastructure, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

Experience in PowerShell scripting, JSON, XML, and C# programming for automation and custom IT solutions.

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux server environments.

Proficiency in network protocols such as FTP, DHCP, DNS, SMTP, TLS/SSL, STP, and TCP.

Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions for both on-premises and cloud environments.

Advanced experience in network security management and cybersecurity tools.

Experience with IAM platforms, such as Microsoft Entra, and security frameworks like MFA and SSO.

Proficiency with Microsoft Endpoint Management and related automation tools.
