Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on AVP of Ansible Engineering to lead our automation team. This is not a "management-only " role — you will be the most technically capable engineer on the team, expected to lead by example in architecture, code, and delivery.
You will play a pivotal role in scaling our infrastructure automation capabilities, building reusable Ansible modules, playbooks, and roles that power mission-critical systems. If you love to code, mentor, and architect — and thrive in high-performance engineering cultures — this role is for you.Key Responsibilities:
Lead a team of 6–8 engineers focused on infrastructure automation using Ansible.
Remain highly hands-on: design, write, review, and deploy production-grade Ansible playbooks and roles.
Own the technical roadmap for Ansible-based automation across platforms (Linux/Windows/cloud).
Architect scalable automation solutions that integrate with CI/CD pipelines, secret management tools, and inventory systems.
Define and enforce best practices for playbook modularization, linting, testing, and version control.
Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot automation failures, and drive continuous improvement.
Partner with security, cloud, and DevOps teams to align automation with enterprise standards.
Hire, coach, and develop top engineering talent with a strong focus on excellence and ownership.Requirements:
10+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering or automation, with 5+ years deep hands-on with Ansible.
Proven leadership of engineering teams (minimum 6 people), with a strong bias toward action and delivery.
Mastery of Ansible best practices, including custom modules, dynamic inventories, Jinja templating, and playbook architecture.
Strong background in Linux systems administration, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code principles.
Experience integrating Ansible with tools like Git, Jenkins, HashiCorp Vault, and ServiceNow.
Expert in writing idempotent, scalable, and maintainable automation code.
Proficient in Python or Bash scripting.
Strong understanding of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
Clear, direct communicator with the ability to influence technical direction and team dynamics.Nice to Have:
Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) or Red Hat Ansible certifications.
Experience in hybrid or multi-cloud environments.
Prior work in regulated or large-scale enterprise environments.
