Job Title: Quality Supervisor
Position Summary:
This role supports the Quality team by supervising and mentoring direct reports in Supplier and Internal Quality functions. The position ensures compliance with quality standards, drives continuous improvement, and facilitates effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide oversight and support to direct reports in day-to-day Supplier and Internal Quality activities, ensuring compliance with quality standards and efficient task execution. Review and validate outputs before submission to management.
Offer advanced technical guidance in areas such as auditing, quality core tools, root cause analysis, process improvement, blueprint reading, GD&T, and PPAP submissions.
Ensure effective training programs are in place for direct reports, including training materials, plans, and competency validation. Deliver ongoing feedback on technical and professional performance to foster growth.
Lead or support resolution of supplier and internal non-conformance issues. Collaborate across departments and with suppliers to ensure timely closure of non-conformances.
Assist with communication between customers, suppliers, and internal teams regarding quality issues. Occasional travel required (approx. 2 trips per month, 0–2 nights per trip).
Ensure accurate cost assessment and processing of supplier chargebacks.
Coordinate supplier and customer PPAP submissions with relevant departments.
Conduct second-party audits of supplier quality management systems in accordance with IATF 16949 requirements.
Foster a collaborative and positive work environment. Build strong relationships with direct reports and promote a culture of excellence, teamwork, and development.
Manage administrative responsibilities for direct reports, including timekeeping, overtime, and vacation scheduling.
Maintain compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards. Promote a safe, clean, and organized working environment.
Execute additional tasks and projects as assigned by management.
Preferred Qualifications & Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Metrology, or a related field—or equivalent work experience
Minimum of 4 years of experience in automotive manufacturing or a related industry
Six Sigma Green Belt certification
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Supervisory and team-building experience
Strong problem-solving capabilities (e.g., Shainin, Six Sigma, 8D, 5-Why)
Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards
Experience with SPC (Statistical Process Control)
Proficiency in Gauge MSA (Measurement System Analysis)
Expertise in PFMEA and control plan development
Proficient in Minitab, Excel, PowerPoint, and general computer use
Skilled in the use of basic lab tools and hand gauges
Technical writing proficiency
Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization
