Berks Packing is a 3rd generation family-owned and operated meat processor facility located in Reading, Pennsylvania. We have a long-standing tradition of providing excellent product quality and customer service. Berks has been a family favorite for over 88 years!

Berks Packing has an immediate need for experienced 2nd shift Quality Control Technician. Essential duties include:

a) Inspects products and QA departmental related documents to verify conformance to policies, procedures, and specifications. Rejects products and equipment not meeting specifications. Immediately notifies supervisors or other personnel of production problems.

b) Monitors production operations or equipment to ensure conformance to specifications. Monitor machines that automatically inspect products such as metal detection.

c) Accurately records inspection data, such as weights and temperatures and verifies conformance. Computes percentages or averages. Reports results, recommendations or needed repairs.

d) Maintains established food quality and food safety standards and enforces GMPs.

e) Follows all Food Safety and Quality standard operating procedures (SOP's) and complies with all Berks Packing policies and procedures.

f) Verifies all SSOPs requirements for all departments. Inspects RTE departments pre-operationally to ensure sanitation effectiveness

g) Maintains all Child Nutrition production requirements.

h) Performs environmental activities involving microbiological analysis.

i) Compares colors, shapes, textures, of products to verify conformance to standards. Recommends necessary corrective actions, based on inspection results.

j) Cleans, maintains, calibrates, measuring instruments, thermometers, probes.

k) Weighs materials, products, containers, or samples to verify packaging weights or ingredient quantities. Collects samples for testing.

l) Reviews Pre-Shipment production documents

m) Adheres to all applicable USDA, GMP, SQF, HACCP and OSHA requirements, including Lock out/Tagout procedures.

n) Promotes teamwork by inviting and involving plant employees to provide input regarding QA issues. Makes self visible and available on the production floor

o) Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

Demonstrated skills in teamwork and worker safety

Food industry experience preferred

GED or HS diploma
