Title: Behavior Support Professional
Department: Behavior Support Services
Location: Maryland
Reports to: Regional Director
Position Summary
To assist individuals in living their best lives and maintaining maximum independence.
To improve or assure consistency in behavior patterns.
To provide behavior intervention training services as outlined in Implementation Strategies and Person-Centered Plans.
Duties
Writes Behavior Support Programs (BSPs), monthly behavior notes, and other required reports meeting assigned timeframes.
Provides input into the Implementation Strategies for people on assigned caseload.
Completes annual assessments for individuals on assigned caseload including Risk Assessment, Functional Behavior Analysis, and any other required assessments.
Monitors performance of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in regard to behavior interventions and discusses opportunities for improvement when needed.
Monitors documentation for completeness and accuracy and provides retraining as needed.
Trains new DSPs or other supports in behavior intervention strategies and individual-specific Behavior Support Programs.
Trains DSPs or other supports on changes or annual updates to BSPs as needed.
Leads regional Behavior Management Committee.
Responds to crisis as required or assigned.
Leads in such a way as to maximize the independence of individuals and to maintain their rights according to company policy and the Develop regulations.
Communicates with guardians, Coordinator of Community Services (CCS), QIDPs, nurses, and supervisory personnel.
Tracks use of time for accuracy in billing.
Completes required documentation accurately and on time.
Attends appointments or accompanies people to the emergency room or urgent care as assigned. May act as a liaison between the company and hospitals.
Participates in intake meetings and writes initial BSPs for intakes.
Participates in transition meetings for discharge or transfer of individuals.
Achieves competency or certification in first aid, CPR, Safety Care, and other required skills within prescribed timeframes.
Submits required employee records on time.
Attends all required training and meetings.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience:
Minimum of Master’s degree in Human Services field
Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Maryland as a:
Psychologist, Professional Counselor, Certified Social Worker, or Behavior Analyst
At least one year of clinical experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities with co-occurring mental health or neurocognitive disorders (or under the supervision of a licensed professional that has training and experience in functional analysis and tiered behavior support plans with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities)
Licenses and Certifications:
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must possess current automobile insurance.
Must be over 25 to operate an agency vehicle.
Skills and Knowledge:
Possess strong interpersonal skills for interactions with supervisors, coworkers, individuals, and outside personnel.
Communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with supervisor, coworkers, individuals, and outside personnel.
Positive Behavioral Supports
Competency in behavior reduction or elimination strategies that promote least restrictive approved alternatives, including positive reinforcement or schedules of reinforcement

Demonstrate knowledge and appropriate implementation of each designated individual’s needs, goals, interventions, and supports.
Complete required record-keeping with accuracy.
Efficient use of time, materials, and human resources.
Physical Demands:
Required to sit for extended periods.
May be required to lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Must have visual, hearing, and learning capabilities sufficient to perform the essential functions defined above.
Environment and Scheduling:
Work performed in a well-lit, confidential environment.
Duties may involve contact with individuals who may be hostile, dangerous, threatening, aggressive, and/or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
