Founded in 1996, CMES, Inc. is a rapidly growing, privately held Georgia-based civil construction company. We are seeking to add a Project Manager to our team to support our continued rapid growth within the utility industry. This role is a field-based position, located in Atlanta, Georgia, and will support the project management needs in the field. This position will work at multiple work site locations throughout the Greater Metro Atlanta, Area.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
The basic function of a Project Manager is to plan, coordinate, and perform job costing of construction operations of multiple projects.
1. Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of company policy and contract specifications.
2. Work with superintendents to discuss each assigned project’s working plan, job costing issues to stay within and manage the budget for each project.
3. Submit accurate and timely reports documenting job site activities regarding job costing, production activity, scheduling, and equipment/materials on each assigned job site.
4. Coordinates the purchasing of materials and supplies with approved vendors and suppliers and manages purchase order process as required.
5. Coordinates outside service vendors in completing designated work on assigned projects to ensure quality standards and on-time job completion.
6. Monitors multiple projects to ensure timely close-outs.
7. Manages the change order process to ensure approvals are obtained prior to work being performed on any assigned projects.
8. Assist Preconstruction department in preparing estimates as required or requested for bid submittals
9. Responsible for resolving customer issues regarding quality, delivery, or any product performance.
10. Handles conflict resolution on assigned project sites.

Qualifications
The Candidate MUST HAVE previous experience working on highway / roadway civil construction projects with the following relevant experience:
5-10+ years of project management experience in heavy civil work or general construction.
Experience with project/financial management responsibilities.
Valid driver’s license.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate.
Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
Ability to work on multiple tasks at one time.
Ability to do routine math calculations.
Ability to interpret heavy highway construction plans.
Education and Experience
A BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management and a minimum of 4-5 years of practical experience or 10 years equivalent practical experience in a related position
Communication Skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to work across varied disciplines
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence and memos
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Employee could be in a standing, bending, kneeling or sitting position for long periods of time. This position could require the ability to operate a manual transmission and clutch in any equipment being loaded or unloaded. The position requires considerable bending, twisting, reaching, pushing and pulling. Other tasks can require stooping, bending, squatting, stretching, driving. The employee will be regularly required to stand, talk and/or hear. The employee is required to use hands to type and write on a tablet
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work in and around a highway or roadside construction area and heavy equipment. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving traffic and mechanical parts and equipment. Employee will be exposed to dust and fumes from cleaners, gasoline, diesel and exhaust. Most work will be performed in a roadside / highway setting and employee will be exposed to ongoing traffic while working. Employee will work outdoors, and will be exposed to the weather, including extremes in heat and cold and rain.

Compensation: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
