Job Summary
Provide swim lesson instruction. This is a 6-month part-time assignment.
Essential Functions
Provide swim lessons with encouragement and positive reinforcement to individuals of all ages and levels of the Drexel and campus community.
Enforce all pool policies while creating a welcome, safe, and inclusive environment for all individuals.
Begin and end lessons on time, remain after lessons to answer questions as needed.
Disperse and clean up lesson-related equipment.
Educate participants on proper technique and promote water safety.
Recognize and respond to emergencies in accordance with emergency action plan and prevent injuries by eliminating hazardous situations and behaviors.
Submit and maintain proper paperwork in a timely manner, including weekly swim lesson statistics.
Maintain appropriate dress for all lessons, including designated bathing suit while working with clients and Department-issued uniform while not working with clients.
Attend bi-annual All Staff Training and in-service trainings each term.
Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator, Aquatics.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year of experience.
Ability to commit to teaching at least 1 hour of lessons per week.
Previous swim instructor experience.
Proficient in swimming including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and elementary backstroke.
Ability to work independently and maintain dependable and timely communication.
Strong verbal communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.

Additional Information
This is a Part-Time temporary position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
