Database & Data Specialist - (Part-time)

**CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION**
The CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies (SLU) invites applications for a part-time Non-Teaching Adjunct (NTA) to support the data and operations needs of The SLU’s Worker Education and Workforce Development programs. This role is critical to ensure the effective data process, collection, analysis, and reporting of program data across multiple programs in five boroughs. This role is non-teaching and focuses on administrative support and operational excellence. It provides a unique opportunity to contribute to SLU’s mission through back-end systems and support services that directly impact student success and program efficiency. The Data Specialist will report to the Director of Worker Education and Workforce Development, and the key responsibilities include, but will not be limited to the following
Responsibilities:
• Develop and generate complex and/or customized reports from internal systems and external sources; aggregate, analyze, and customize informational reports in accordance with program requirements
• Maintain internal Access data systems and Tableau dashboards; ensure accuracy, reliability of data and timeliness of ongoing reporting needs and support the development of database front-end tools
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess operational and informational needs; identify appropriate data sources; design systems to capture, monitor, and report key metrics
• Troubleshoot database and system issues and assist with data clean-up and validation; escalate issues to proper personnel for resolution
• Assist with data migrations, integrations, and troubleshooting
• Track and maintain the integrity of student records and enrollment data
• Manage incoming data from students and worker Education staff across seven partnering CUNY campuses, including retention, graduation, and program progress indicators
• Support the development and implementation of surveys, manage data collection, conduct data analysis, and prepare comprehensive reports for founders, CUNY, and school administration
• Facilitate communications related to data collection, including outreach to students and staff across several CUNY campuses; monitor and report key data trends and progress, and recommend corrective measures; follow-up as needed
• Assist in preparing materials and documentation for audits and internal review
• Ensure compliance with data protection policies
• Assist with preparing summaries, memos, and operational reports for leadership review
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
Bachelor's Degree required.
**OTHER QUALIFICATIONS**
• At least 2 years’ experience with databases, data analysis, and reporting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Access and Excel; ability to create and manage complex spreadsheets
• Proficiency in Tableau the data visualization system
• Demonstrated experience using PeopleSoft, or similar systems
• Familiarity with the CUNYfirst system is strongly desired. Additional experience with other data presentations, analysis and data related programs a plus (PowerBI, AirTable, R, SPSS, Python, SQL, etc)
• Experience with data management and a strong understanding of data integrity data structures, and best practices
• Working knowledge of project management principles and operations support
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines without compromising quality
• Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
**COMPENSATION**
$51.32 - $59.00 per hour, (up to 15 hours per week) commensurate with education and experience.
