We are seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join our Revenue Cycle Management Team as a Revenue Cycle Specialist – Patient Collections.
What You'll Do:
The Revenue Cycle Specialist – Patient Collections will be responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient patient account management while delivering exceptional customer service. By leveraging expertise in healthcare billing, financial arrangements, and conflict resolution, the position supports effective collections and fosters positive relationships with patients and stakeholders. Through collaboration and proficiency in technology, the role contributes to the financial integrity and operational success of the organization.
The successful candidate will be able to:
Perform collection duties to ensure prompt payment from guarantors following policies and procedures
Apply credit card, and payment plan options of payment correctly
Analyze Explanation of Benefits (EOB) documents to understand and resolve patient billing issues
Investigate historical claim data to ensure collections due are appropriate
Contact patients to communicate various payment sources and options available to resolve aged patient balances
Provide clear explanations and next steps to patients regarding their patient balance, insurance claims and or coverage
Document note in the EMR system describing work completed on accounts
Utilize strong listening and negotiating skills to secure a minimum payment on each patient encounter called
Follow all policies set forth for each specific practice
Work daily/weekly reports accurately and timely
Meet productivity standards set by management for the number of accounts worked per day, as well as dollars collected per day
Inform management on any discrepancies within accounts
Update system with new demographic and other pertinent data when applicable
Determine whether accounts are eligible for insurance, prepare insurance update and document system appropriately
Collect patient outstanding co-payments, deductibles and out-of-pocket responsibilities
Contact third-party payers as appropriate for coordination of benefits, eligibility, reimbursement issues and balance follow-up
Assist Patient Billing team with answering inbound calls during heavy call volume periods
Perform any and all other duties as assignedWhat You’ll Bring:
High School Diploma required, Medical Billing and or Coding Certification highly preferred
3+ years of hands-on experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, with a proven track record of optimizing processes
Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications as well as medical office software
Proven experience in healthcare billing
Sound knowledge of health insurance providers
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Excellent customer service skills
