Job Description

Would you love using your construction management background to help churches build innovative and effective spaces to increase their ministry impact? Do you enjoy working on a small, collaborative team, using an integrated design/build project delivery method?

Our Estimator position is a challenging and rewarding opportunity. We’re looking for candidates with commercial project experience within a general contractor or design/build company, a desire to serve churches, and a flexible/adaptable team mindset.

The Estimator plays a critical part of the team for Aspen Group projects. You’ll be the supporting internal estimating services as we serve as the developer, architect, and general contractor for large, custom ministry facilities– a mixture of renovations, additions, and new green site projects across the U.S.

Given the nature of our delivery method, this is a highly collaborative position where you will work across the organization with architectural and interior designers, outside consultants, internal Project Managers and Project Engineers, subcontractors, and field superintendents.

The ideal candidate has a track record of success in commercial project estimating, must be an outstanding communicator, and an even better strategist.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of our Senior Estimator

· Analyze full bid documents and conceptual design project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine the scope of work and materials required.

· Ability to interpret and visualize a design concept, very early in the pre-construction process with very little information. Must be able to take that information and perform quantity takeoffs and price accordingly and fill in “gaps” in the design for a complete conceptual estimate.

· Knowledge and understanding of construction divisions, materials, methods, assemblies and order of operations during the building process.

· Assist in the gathering, calculation, and compilation of data for use in conceptual estimates.

· Maintain current, accurate information on pricing from suppliers and contractors

· In conjunction with the project team, prepare bid packages, conceptual estimates, analysis of sub bids, and value engineering.

· Ability to read, interpret and budget full bid set documents and initial conceptual designs.

· Interface with project teams, design consultants, and subcontractors

· Assist in the recruitment and qualifying of subcontractors and partners in new geographies

Relevant Experience: Three or more years of experience in estimating, project management, project engineering, or project planning (scope, schedule, cost, quality) on commercial construction projects.

Familiarity with construction software, such as ProCore, ProEst & MS Project. Proficient with Blubeam, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Building Construction Management or related field preferred. Field experience will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.

Desired Skills: Demonstrates effectiveness in working in a team setting, communicating with others and technical competence. Capable of carrying out independent assignments with minimal supervision. Adept at problem solving. Professional with effective communication skills and time management skills. Highly motivated, organized, and detail oriented. Results-oriented with ability to manage tasks and work under pressure in a deadline driven environment.

Location and Travel: Preference for this position to be based from either our Frankfort, Illinois or Southlake, TX office (hybrid available). We estimate approximately 30% travel requirement.Company Description
