Overview
We are seeking a Sr Cloud Engineer to support the technology group for our federal client located in Washington, DC. The Sr Cloud/DevSecOps Engineer will perform a variety of tasks and activities that are broad in nature and concerned with application migration to AWS; implementation and maintenance of DevSecOps environments and AWS services; and full SDLC support.
*This position requires either U.S. Citizenship or Green Card holder status. Additionally, the candidate must be eligible to secure a Public Trust Clearance.
What You'll Do
· Perform a variety of cloud engineering tasks and activities that are broad in nature and are concerned with the implementation and maintenance of AWS and DevSecOps services.
· Provide support with migration of applications from on premises to AWS or Azure.
· Coordinate technical solutions across various teams working closely with client management.
· Identify the needs for build automation, designing, and implementing CI/CD solutions.
· Create plug-and-play/reusable solutions and patterns for CI/CD pipelines.
· Create, develop, and implement automation and system integration for various build platforms.
· Build reusable CloudFormation or Terraform Scripts.
· Engage with application teams assisting with configuration and scripting using Python and Lambda to automate activities for Infrastructure as Code.
· Provide application development organizations with full SDLC support when needs arise.
· Performing capacity planning to ensure that servers can handle an organization’s workload without experiencing downtime or performance degradation.
· Work with Cloud Architects and conducting a well-architected review process.
· Recommend emerging technology cloud services.
Required Knowledge and Skills
· Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
· Six years experience as a DevSecOps engineer supporting pipeline management for business applications that are deployed within AWS, with 10+ years total in information technology developing and deploying applications
· Comprehensive technical expertise in a variety of DevSecOps toolkits, including Jenkins, Ansible, GitHub, CloudFormation, and/or comparable technologies.
· Fluent in Python and a variety of programming languages, software, and systems
· Experience with migrating applications to the Cloud (AWS and Azure)
· Expertise using serverless, event-driven compute services, such as AWS Lambda, to address client needs.
· Strong computing and scripting skills
· Knowledge and implementation experience of network/cloud architectures
· Comfortable with Agile practices
· Experience with SaaS processes and products (Salesforce, New Relic, and Akamai)
· Experience with Dynamic/Static (SonarQube) and Vulnerability (Invicti) Code Scanning.
· Excellent writing and communication skills
Abilities
· Ability to quickly understand cloud technologies and apply that knowledge to advance client transformation initiatives.
· The ability to use technical skills for the design and implementation of various CI/CD patterns while abiding by industry standards and policies.
Nice to Haves
· Experience with Content Delivery Networks and Drupal, a plus.
· Experience with TerraForms
· Experience using the Atlassian tools suite (Jira and Confluence)
· Federal government agency work experience
· Cloud and/or Agile Certifications
