Construction Estimator

Job Description

We are hiring a Construction Estimator to analyze project plans and specifications to determine the cost of materials, labor, equipment, and time required for a construction project. Gather information, conduct research, and utilize software to create accurate cost estimates and proposals for project managers.

Key Responsibilities:

Understanding Project Scope: Analyzing project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to fully grasp the scope of work.

Quantity Takeoff: Determining the quantities of materials needed for each phase of the project.

Cost Analysis: Researching and analyzing costs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Developing detailed project budgets and forecasting potential costs.

Data Collection and Analysis: Gathering information from suppliers, subcontractors, and construction sites to inform estimates.

Negotiation and Procurement: Negotiating with subcontractors and vendors to obtain the best prices and terms.

Proposal Development: Preparing and submitting cost estimates and bids to clients and project managers.

Software Proficiency: Utilizing construction estimating software and other tools for data analysis and reporting.

Risk Assessment: Identifying and analyzing potential risks that could impact project costs.

Collaboration: Working with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.

Required Skills:

Technical Expertise: Thorough understanding of construction processes, materials, and labor practices.

Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, interpret specifications, and make accurate cost estimates.

Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients, vendors, and other team members.

Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to cost overruns or other project challenges.

Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills for managing large quantities of information and deadlines.

Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate with subcontractors and vendors to secure favorable terms.

Software Proficiency: Experience with construction estimating software and other relevant tools. Proficiency in use of PlanSwift is required.
