Job Description
ASI Partners is looking in the Huntsville or Tennessee Valley Chattanooga area to find one very special creative and curious mind for a full-time long-term Computer Aided Design Engineer that is filling some big shoes with the July departure of a long-time employee moving across the country. The departing engineer is a former Disney Imagineer master fabricator and designer that can take renderings into CAD within hours and master organic shapes and compound curves to production.
The role primarily involves reverse engineering, designing parts with organic shapes, and renderings:
Creating 3D file for printing, manufacturing, patent drawings, etc.
Comprehensive reverse engineering services, including 3D scanning and polygon reduction.
Liaising with production as they are making all parts affordable and in-house, low-run or not.
We would like the person to be hired sometime in June in order to spend time with the departing employee before he leaves in July. Along with a salary in the low-to-upper 80s, some benefits include:
Cool clients; video game producers, polymer manufacturing, national federal laboratories and more...
Opportunity to travel to SWSX and other events as this company is a rising business gaining notoriety
Full range of health benefits, PTO, and extraordinary opportunities for salary and professional growth.
If you are a U.S. Citizen with documented proof, at least 15 years of experience in design, reverse engineering, and liaising with production, believe you have the skill and curiosity of what we are looking for, please read on for details from our client, and apply as soon as possible.
"Reverse Engineering. The departing engineer is an expert in 3D scanning and object (from many different angles), combining the scans, cleaning them up and calibrating each angle and curve to perfection. We've had situations where our clients had gone to many other engineering firms to get a part duplicated to perfection, but they couldn't do it. They came to us and the engineer replicated it perfectly.
Designing parts with organic shapes. It is fairly easy to find someone who can do excellent CAD work with geometric shapes. It's not so easy to find someone who is skilled in organic shapes and compound curves.
Renderings. It's common for us to have a client who has an idea and the Engineer sketches it out in pencil, giving them several drawings to choose from. After they choose the one they like, and give suggestions on alterations, we hand it over to the Engineer. In a very short period of time (3 - 4 hours), the engineer turns the pencil drawings into CAD renderings that look extremely realistic. The client can actually see how the potential product will look before they commit to the full CAD work and everything else involved getting a product to market."
