Woodbridge is accepting applications for an Assistant Principal. This is a 12-month administrative position

JOB SUMMARY:

Under direction of the Principal, the Assistant Principal assists with administering and supervising the total school program and providing educational leadership for students and staff members consistent with the educational goals of the school and district. Assists in the administration of a school facility; to assist in the planning, development and implementation of instructional and operational goals and objectives and in the evaluation of the effectiveness of educational programs and personnel performance; to plan, develop organize, coordinate and supervise the student attendance, behavior management and extra-curricular activity programs.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Master's degree in Educational Leadership or successful completion of a leadership program

Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Certification as a School Principal/Assistant Principal

At least four (4) years of successful teaching or educator experience, preferably in a secondary school

At least two (2) years of demonstrated and effective leadership experience in an educational environment

Possess strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

Ability to handle complex issues, multiple tasks, responsibilities and make decisions quickly and effectively. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists the Principal in the overall administration of the school.

Enforce school policies related to student behavior and discipline and implement strategies to improve student behavior and school culture.

Enforce school policies related to student behavior and discipline, address student infractions, including managing disciplinary actions and implement strategies to improve student behavior and school culture.

Observe and evaluate teachers, providing feedback and support to improve teaching practices and assist with teacher professional development.

Collaborate with the principal and other administrators to develop and implement the school curriculum and ensure alignment between classroom instruction and state or district standards.

Oversee and manage school safety protocols and ensure a safe and welcoming environment for both students and staff.

Assists in analyzing, sharing and using school and student achievement data to develop and implement the school improvement plan.

Conducts observations and evaluations for teachers, specialists, and support staff.

Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, behavior, and academics.

Assists the principal in implementing systematic procedures to assess program effectiveness.

Manages day-to-day building operations and supervises student activities including school events outside of the school day.

Serves as a liaison between teachers, parents, students, and the community and communicates important information to staff, students, and parents when necessary.

Handles parent concerns or complaints, resolving issues or escalating to the principal when necessary.

Attends meetings and serves on committees as required.

Stays informed about educational best practices, new laws, and emerging trends in education and participates in leadership and professional development opportunities to improve effectiveness as an administrator.

Emulates the highest professional ethics and practices.
