HIGHWAY/HEAVY CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER/ESTIMATOR

The Allen Company, Inc., central Kentucky’s premier highway/heavy construction and construction materials company, seeks a Highway/Heavy Construction Engineer-Estimator to be part of the company’s ongoing success.

At The Allen Company, Inc., we specialize in road construction and asphalt paving with multiple quarries and asphalt plants across central Kentucky. From paving parking lots to developing major construction sites, we understand the importance of servicing central Kentucky’s transportation needs.

We are seeking an energetic candidate with a strong work ethic and principles for which The Allen Company is well known. You must have the ability to review project plans (paper and digital-CAD), proposals, and specifications. Gather work quantities and requirements pertinent to project bids/proposals and either be familiar with or have the ability to master civil highway/heavy construction quantity takeoff software.

Typical duties and responsibilities include:

· Attend pre-bid meetings and perform site inspections

· Contact, receive, interpret scopes and pricing from materials suppliers and subcontractors

· Prepare detailed estimates through quantity takeoff and project specification review

· Obtain historical job cost and productivity information for relevant use in estimating projects

· Post bid collaboration with clients, project managers, and superintendents to ensure compliance with contract requirements and budgets

Qualifications and Experience:

· Civil Engineering degree and PE License is preferred

· Land Surveying Certification, PLS, is preferred

· Minimum of 5-10 years estimating experience in a construction-related industry

Location:

This is a full-time office position located at our headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky
