ANIMAL SERVICES COORDINATOR Salary $59,378.00 Annually Location Animal Services, LA Job Type Full-Time Job Number 2025-00082 Department Animal Services Opening Date 05/13/2025 Closing Date 5/27/2025 11:59 PM Central * Description * Benefits * Questions Summary This is the fifth of five levels in the Animal Services Officer series.

Incumbents provide training to Animal Service Officers and Kennel Caretakers, participate in animal service calls and cruelty investigations; and monitor compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

Responsibilities may include coordinating and monitoring assigned shelter operations; monitoring budget items; tracking the use of scheduled drugs; and performing the duties of the lower levels.

Other duties may be assigned.) * Prioritizes and assigns work to lower level staff; monitors the performance of staff; trains staff on work methods and procedures; and participates on staff evaluations.

* Coordinates and oversees day-to-day operations of assigned animal services functions, which includes planning, coordinating, implementing, administering, and participating in programs, projects, processes, procedures, systems, and standards; ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards.

* Coordinates and investigates animal cruelty cases; reviews all animal cruelty issues; ensures site visits are performed by lower level staff to check on animals in question.

* Responds to, investigates, and resolves citizen complaints and problems related to animals, wildlife, barking dogs, dangerous dogs, cats, and/or other related animal issues; works with law enforcement agencies in the resolution of difficult cases.

* Administers and monitors medications; tracks the use of scheduled drugs and medical supplies.

* Prepares, reviews, interprets, and analyzes a variety of information, data, and reports; makes recommendations based on findings.

* Assists with budget preparation; prepares cost estimates for budget recommendations; submits justifications for budget items; monitors expenditures.

* Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Ability to manage lower level Animal Services employees.

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Parish's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include training employees; and planning, assigning and directing work.

Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree and five years experience as an Animal Services Officer; or Animal Services Care Provider; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Prefer Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or Animal Science.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS Euthanasia Certification; Crematory Operation Certification; ACCI Cruelty Investigation Certification; Law Enforcement Commission; Valid Driver's License as per State law or requirement QUALIFICATIONS To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

UNIFORM An employee in this position will be supplied with a uniform, provided by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury.

The employee is responsible for abiding by the Police Jury's Uniform Agreement.
