Structural Engineer/Project Manager
HireIQ Solutions is leading the search for a Structural Engineer/Project Manager for a respected and growing structural engineering firm based in Bend, Oregon. This firm partners with architectural firms and general contractors on commercial, residential, and institutional projects, with a strong reputation for technical excellence, collaborative culture, and long-term client relationships. This is a full-time, in-office position based in Bend. The role requires a consistent on-site presence to support collaboration, visibility into project needs, and mentorship of junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
Lead structural engineering projects from concept through construction, including design, documentation, client interaction, and field visits
Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and support team development
Conduct site observations and manage project milestones to ensure quality, budget, and timeline goals
Write and contribute to project proposals and fee estimates
Coordinate directly with clients, general contractors, architects, and internal teams
Perform detailed structural calculations for wood-framed buildings and other structural systems
Draft and review plans using Revit or other CAD software
Apply understanding of applicable building codes, including those related to high seismic loading and complex calculations
Help drive project delivery while embodying the firm’s values: Collaboration, Communication, and Commitment
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural focus preferred)
PE license required
5–10 years of experience in structural engineering, preferably with project management experience
Strong technical background with experience in wood-frame construction (wood makes up 70% of project types)
Familiarity with structural design for concrete and other materials is also beneficial
Experience working with and interpreting building codes (IBC and relevant local codes); SE license is a plus
Proficiency in Revit or other CAD software is preferred
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, mentoring approach
Motivated, self-starting, and curious mindset – ability to problem-solve independently while knowing when to ask for support
Onsite presence in Bend is required – relocation assistance is available for the right candidate
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $100,000 – $125,000+ DOE
Bonus: Quarterly performance bonus + Profit Sharing Plan
Retirement: 3% Safe Harbor 401K employer contribution, 100% vested from day one of eligibility (after 1 year)
Paid Time Off:
Starting at 136 hours annually (5.23 hours accrued per pay period for candidates with 3–5 years’ tenure equivalent)
Increases to 160+ hours with tenure
Paid Holidays: 8.5 days annually, including:
New Year’s Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Day After Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve (half day), Christmas Day
Health Insurance:
Two plan options (Aetna EPO and Aetna HDHP) with 100% premium coverage for the employee and 25% coverage for dependents
HDHP includes HSA contribution of $104/month from employer
