Job Title: Extrusion Production Operator

FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Department: Production

Reports To: Shift Supervisor

Schedule: 1st Shift (6:45A - 3:15P), 2nd Shift (2:45P - 115:15P), 3rd Shift (10:45P - 7:15A)

Basic Job Functions:

Operate extrusion equipment, spot check product for quality using measurement tools, package product for shipping, and complete required paperwork in order to keep production running efficiently.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

1 year of Manufacturing experience preferred.

Required Skills/Competencies:

Ability to use common hand tools and to setup and operate various common powered tools and production equipment.

Ability to lift a minimum of 55lbs at any given time for purposes of mixing /re-filling hoppers.

Ability to use basic measuring and inspection tools such as tape measures, steel-rules, calipers, attribute gauges, gauge blocks and pins, go/no go type gauges, etc.

Ability to read and comprehend production documents and simple mechanical drawings.

Ability to initiate and maintain various production reports and records.

Ability to operate a lift-truck (forklift).

Essential Responsibilities

Operate extrusion process equipment.

Operate small hand and power tools, powered machinery, drill-presses, power saws, pneumatic and hydraulic punches etc.

Perform job assignment duties in accordance with applicable quality and manufacturing procedures, work instructions (verbal or written), good manufacturing practices and safety procedures.

Set up and/or adjusts production equipment as required by the job assignment.

Mix raw palletized plastic stock and pigments used in the extrusion process, load palletized plastic stock into the extruder as needed.

Conduct self-inspection of work-output in accordance with work instructions (verbal and written) and inspection plans.

Complete and maintain production and inspection records in accordance with job and procedural requirements.

Determine production requirements from production orders, drawings, written specifications and similar documents.

Count, wrap, package, and/or label in-process and finished product in accordance with work instructions.

Trains or assists in the training of new-hires/temps and transferred personnel.

Transfers stock and finished product manually or by handcarts and pallet jacks, or forklift.

Performs other duties as assigned by management or immediate supervisor.

Reporting Relationships:

This position does not have direct reports.

Estimated Salary Range:

$18.80/hr

US Physical Requirements:

Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift.

Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.

Will lift, push, or pull up to 55 pounds on an occasional basis.

Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.

Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.

May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.

May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.

Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, or other required PPE).
