ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Equipment Reliability and Controls Technician will work under the direction of the Maintenance Manager to provide assistance in actively installing, managing, and maintaining essential equipment used to monitor and control machinery and processes including information systems on the process control network, ensuring safe and efficient operations. They will collaborate with others to ensure compliance with the strategies and standards related to all aspects of the information and control system platform; these include, but are not limited to PLC, control logic programming, data acquisition, networking, and vision systems. They will work directly with the Maintenance Manager in the development of project plans including working collaboratively with design and operations engineers and other staff members. They will act as Project Manager to keep projects within design, cost, and time expectations as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or the corporate engineering team. Additionally, they will maintain and modify existing information and control systems.

SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday

WAGE: Salary range for this position is $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 annually, subject to all required taxes and withholdings.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide advanced programming skills in modifying, upgrading, and troubleshooting Allen Bradley programmable logic controllers, human machine interface, variable frequency drives, servo systems, and communication networks from varied manufactures.

Provide leadership, direction, and support assistance in determining the skill balance within MTX Electrical/Controls scope of work during daily operations.

Provide technical support and leadership to identify and implement “In House” project initiatives that will enhance and improve safety, production and or reliability functions.

Provide technical support for corrective actions pertaining to maintenance, production, and operational requirements.

Leverage the MVP system for entering notifications, documenting, and confirming work orders.

Recognize priorities and direct appropriate resources accordingly.

Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.

Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.

Read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjust as needed.

Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.

Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.

Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.

Detect faulty operations, defective materials and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.

Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Maintenance preferred.

7 - 10 years of recent experience in electrical and maintenance operations

7 - 10 years of experience in programing and working with PLC’s

Experience with Information Systems associated with Process Control Systems

5 years of experience in food manufacturing

Experience in supporting an operations group on a daily basis

Knowledge of Allen Bradley software (RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500, RSView, RSNetworks)

Mechanical skills include, but are not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.

Must have the ability to perform one of the following welding functions ARC, TIG and or MIG and be able to cut and fabricate with metal including stainless steel.

Ability to communicate with others in a respectful manner, providing strong customer service.

Must have a strong mechanical and electrical background.

Must be able to manage department projects associated with re-instrumentation and PLC installations.

Detail oriented, organized, reliable and resourceful.

Solid decision-making skills.

Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment under constant pressure of production line environment.

Be Internet savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office, including email.

Must be able to multitask effectively.

Must have the ability to correctly complete all required maintenance documentation.

Have to be motivated and a self-starter.

Be willing to teach, coach and assist others.

Ability to take charge to resolve issues in the maintenance department.

Must maintain current CPR/First Aid card.

Demonstrates strong leadership skills and abilities.

Must be able to assign job tasks and follow them through to completion.

Able to successfully work with contractors on Capital Projects to ensure that the project finishes on time and on budget.

Able to work harmoniously with auditors during the audit process.

Able to update/manage basic spreadsheets for Capital/Parts management.

Must have a full understanding of the production process from start to finish.

Work environment is that of an office environment. This employee regularly works with office equipment, materials, chemicals, and wet floors and with wet equipment when on the production floor. This employee work around high voltage, hot water, and steam

Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl

Physical work includes climbing stairs, etc.

Willing to work in a various-temperature environment

Ability to handle items under 25lbs or may need to move objects safely and with proper body mechanics.

Ability to frequently talk, hear, and smell

Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls

Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus
