Job Summary:

The 9th & 10th Grade Curriculum & College Success Coach is responsible for supporting the achievement of Champions For Learning’s mission, strategy, and annual goals and objectives, by assisting with the development of and implementing the annual work plan as part of the Student Programs team. The primary responsibility will be for delivery of College and Career & Take Stock in Children providing student advocacy.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Serves as a student advocate for 9th and 10th grade students (per assigned caseload) including providing coaching, resources, opportunities, and support. Meets with students and parents, according to their program specification, to provide coaching, resources, opportunities, and support. Work with students, parents, and mentors to understand expectations and commitments within the program.

Ensures all student information is secure and confidential in support of TSIC, CCPS, and Champions For Learning records management protocols.

Completes assessments, students’ success plans, documentation, student files, etc. for record keeping. Complete all student documentation and

monitor student progress toward their goals, grade specific benchmarks, and intervene according to the intervention protocols.

Maintains accurate and timely records in appropriate databases to support outcome, grant reporting, and scholarships.

Lead appropriate volunteer selection committees and provide training on selection software/process.

Work with schools to remove application barriers through support events.

Communicate with educators, principals, counselors, and other partners to share the opportunities, understand criteria, and encourage applications.

Coordinate interview nights, induction ceremonies, contract signings, and other events related to student selection.

Ensure awards/scholarship follow-up actions are received (transcripts, thank you letters).

Coordinate scholarship activations, and handle activation inquiries.

Monitors and track students’ academic performance, attendance, and behavior in a timely manner and gather and share stories of impact as part of the organizational communications and development plans.

Partners with the Director of Student Programs, Volunteer Manager, and other applicable team members to support volunteer engagement and mentor recruitment. Integrates volunteers, presenters, alumni, and college students in the delivery and content of workshops.

Creates and implements programming to enhance the experience and engagement of students in workshops including logistics (preparations, attendance tracking, communication, and follow-up), volunteer engagement, and appropriate constituent (parents and mentors) engagement.

Works closely with students regularly to achieve foundational, employability, leadership, and college prep skills such as career exploration, communication, and time management.

Supports broad based student and family outreach and success initiatives through constructing and delivering events, workshops, and programs.

Work with appropriate staff to ensure volunteers have a successful experience and there is follow-up through on-going communication.

Support the development team with donor cultivation efforts including preparing students for events and opportunities to share their experiences.

Share success stories to capture outcome anecdotes.

Responsibilities as it relates to the Take Stock in Children grant:

The College Success Coach will:

• Assist students with all aspects of college readiness and preparation.

• Plan and execute college readiness workshops.

• Support the development of study skills.

• Facilitate student preparation for taking the SAT/ACT.

• Assist students with completing college applications and the FAFSA. • Identify potential problems and intervene when necessary to ensure student success, including direct intervention with students and/or parents, mentors, school employees (guidance counselors, teachers), etc.

• Track and report student compliance with Take Stock in Children program requirements including academic performance, attendance, and behavior.

• Communicate with mentors to ensure successful service delivery and collaborate to address issues as they arise.

• Document student success plans, progress, and mentor activities.

• Assist with planning Take Stock in Children activities and events and attend them when required.

• Collaborate with School Coordinators, college staff, and other education personnel for student success. 2 Core Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Undergraduate degree required.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must have the ability to travel to different sites.

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
