Duties: The Data Scientist possesses strong expertise in data science and artificial intelligence and applies knowledge in the ophthalmologic field to manage and initiate research projects. The Data Scientist works closely with various in-house teams in the U.S. and overseas involved in the development of ophthalmic medical devices and software, and assists with data analysis, clinical research, and data management to support the objectives of the organization. Responsibilities:

Data Analysis and Exploration:

Perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and insights.

Serve as AI expert to manage AI model development and implementation. This includes the design, implementation, and optimization of machine learning models for various business applications.

Responsible for continuous improvement of existing models based on feedback and changing requirements.

Perform testing and validate models to ensure they meet business requirements.

Communicate complex statistical concepts and model results to non-technical stakeholders.

Support projects related to products and their clinical application in the field.

Gather product feedback and market data to analyze and create reports for Management.

Support clinical application team by providing education to customers and colleague’s and answering technical questions and gathering data related to product inquiries, concerns, and complex issues.

Conduct research interviews with physicians and key opinion leaders who are using the devices.

Participate in ongoing product, business, and industry training by both self-study and classroom training to maintain current knowledge of the equipment and innovations in the field of ophthalmology.

Clinical Research:

Manage and initiate projects with research partners.

Plan and conduct clinical studies in collaboration with study centers.

Communicate with clinical research organizations for approval of studies.

Collect and organize research data.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop data-driven solutions.

Data Management:

Manage and maintain databases and datasets.

Develop data security and integrity strategies.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science/Informatics or Digital Health Informatics; and 2 years of experience in a Data Analyst or Data Scientist role, to include the following experience and knowledge, which may have been gained concurrently:

2 years of experience in ophthalmic diagnostic devices and related software.

2 years of experience in applying knowledge of optics, eye anatomy, and the visual system, as it applies to the operation and data of ophthalmic medical devices.

2 years of experience in applying knowledge of eye pathologies and treatments managed by ophthalmologists and optometrists, and detailed knowledge of those directly related to ocular surgery, contact lens fitting, and diagnostic devices.

1 year of experience in deriving technical recommendations and specifications from the analysis of measured data.

Job Details:

Full-time position with OCULUS, Inc. located at 17721 59th Avenue NE, Arlington, WA 98223.

Job may be performed remotely from anywhere in the U.S.
