Mid-Michigan Ear, Nose, and Throat, an Align ENT & Allergy partner, is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Test and Surgery Scheduler to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling tests and surgical procedures for our patients, ensuring a seamless process from initial consultation to surgery date. Your expertise in managing schedules and understanding surgical procedures will be essential in providing excellent patient care.
As the Medical Surgery Scheduler, you will work closely with physicians, patients, and healthcare staff to facilitate timely and efficient surgical scheduling. You will also be responsible for verifying insurance information, obtaining necessary pre-authorization, and providing patients with complete information regarding their surgical procedures.Responsibilities
Schedule tests and surgical procedures in accordance with physician availability and patient needs.
Coordinate with the surgical facility staff to ensure all necessary arrangements are in place for successful procedures.
Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain required pre-authorizations before scheduling surgeries.
Communicate cost estimates to patients and obtain payments from patients prior to surgery.
Communicate effectively with patients to provide clear instructions regarding pre-operative requirements and post-operative care.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records related to surgical scheduling.
Proactively follow up with patients to confirm appointments and address any queries or concerns.
Assist in managing the surgical calendar to maximize efficiency and minimize scheduling conflicts.
Work collaboratively with physicians and clinical staff to ensure a streamlined scheduling process.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in medical administrative support is preferred.
Previous experience in a medical office setting, preferably in surgical scheduling or a related role.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, surgical procedures, and healthcare insurance processes.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and scheduling software.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong customer service skills and a patient-centered approach.
