Job Title: Adjunct Professor – Spacecraft Subsystems (AE-210)

Type: Adjunct, Professional

Location: Laurel, MD, US

Position Summary: Capitol Technology University, a nonprofit university located in Laurel, Maryland, seeks a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our faculty as an Adjunct Professor in Astronautical and Space Engineering, starting in Fall 2025. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching as well as experience in the design, development, integration, test and operations of spacecraft. The faculty member will need to be familiar with and experienced in areas such as: the subsystem architecture options for primary spacecraft subsystem (eg. Command & Data Handling, Structures, Thermal, Radio Frequency Communication, Electrical Power, Propulsion, Attitude Control) as well as knowledge on how to select subsystem components to meet mission requirements and how to optimize the overall spacecraft design. Knowledge of design variations for various mission classes, from cubesats to LEO/GEO/Deep Space missions is important. This position requires teaching in person at our university campus.

Position Qualifications:

A Master's or Doctorate degree in Aerospace or a related field, or >15 years of experience working in the aerospace field.

Experience in an academic environment, which can include teaching classes, supporting class activities, guest lecturing

Ability to develop and deliver comprehensive course materials that align with the university's curriculum and standards.

Commitment to diversity among students, faculty, and staff.

Willingness to teach in person

Staying current with developments and advancements in the field of spacecraft design, to ensure that course content is up-to-date and relevant.

Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Manage and facilitate class activities, adhering to and meeting all established university policies.

Adhere to university guidelines and standards for in-person, online, and hybrid learning.

Respond to invitations to make recommendations to the Chair and Dean regarding the selection of textbooks or other required texts relevant to the adjunct faculty member's academic discipline and teaching assignment.

Submit final grades no later than 48 hours after the conclusion of the last day of class; remain available to students during the week following the posting of final grades.

Participate in student learning outcomes assessment related to the adjunct's teaching assignment as directed by the Chair and Dean.

Adhere to all established university absence and attendance policies, guidelines, and requirements.

Complete related projects and duties as assigned.

Maintain office hours to assist students with coursework, projects, and academic inquiries.
