About the Role:
The Activities/Life Enrichment Assistant plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for residents at Hillside Terrace by assisting Life Enrichment Director in planning and implementing engaging fun inspired activities that promote social interaction, physical well-being, and mental stimulation. This position requires a compassionate individual who can connect with residents and understand their unique interests and needs. The assistant will work closely with the Life Enrichment Director to develop a diverse schedule of events that cater to various abilities and preferences of our residents. By fostering a vibrant, full of life community atmosphere, the assistant will help residents maintain their independence and dignity while encouraging participation in meaningful life enriching activities. Ultimately, the goal is to create a supportive environment that enriches the lives of all residents and promotes a sense of belonging and joy.
** We are seeking a 'Dementia Certified' activity coordinator and are open to reviewing applicants with Dementia care expertise and attainable work history in a memory care community setting.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience working with seniors in activities/life enrichment position.
Experience in Memory Care Community setting.
Have an upbeat, pleasant, caring, enthusiastic personality.
Possess a verifiable work history with a minimum of one-year tenured job.
MUST be willing to work as a team with the coworker of the 'L.E.T.' department, all company departmental staff, residents and families.
MUST have clean driving record and a valid State of Michigan driver's license.
MUST feel competent to drive facility 14 passenger handicap bus.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in Dementia Care Activities or recreational therapy.
Experience in planning, execution and fully carrying out group activities by yourself.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the planning and execution of daily activities and special events for residents and their families.
Engage residents in activities, ensuring their participation and enjoyment.
Provide support and encouragement to residents, fostering a positive, fun and enlightened atmosphere.
Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback on activities.
Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a holistic approach to resident care and enrichment.
Must maintain a high regard for exceptional attendance and punctuality as the department flows only if you are here as scheduled!
Skills:
The required skills for this position include strong communication and interpersonal abilities, which are essential for building rapport with residents and understanding their needs. Organizational and time efficiency skills are vital for planning and coordinating activities effectively, ensuring that all logistics are managed smoothly. Creativity is vitality important, as the assistant alongside coworker of the "L.E.T." department will need to develop engaging and diverse programming that appeals to a wide range of interests, abilities and capabilities of residents. Additionally, much patience and empathy are crucial in providing support to residents, particularly those with varying levels of mobility and cognitive function. Preferred skills, such as dementia certification in activities and knowledge of therapeutic recreation techniques, can enhance the quality of activities offered and contribute to the overall well-being of residents.
