Black Butte Ranch, Central Oregon’s original resort community is seeking an experienced Catering and Events Sales Manager to join our leadership team!
We have an immediate opening for an Event Sales Manager who develops and executes strategies and initiatives to sell the Ranch’s event and function space and lodging facilities to social, corporate and owner accounts. Responsibilities include selling, planning, budgeting, operations and overseeing resort events including Weddings, Family Reunions, Business meetings, Owner Events, and more. The Catering Sales and Event Manager will solicit new and existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals through outside sales calls, site tours, telephone solicitation, networking and written communication.
General Responsibilities:
Manage the planning, execution and supervision of events to include sales, negotiations and client satisfaction
Communicate all group specifications and history to the appropriate operational departments.
Proactively develops and works a multi-faceted plan (e.g. outside sales calls, trade shows, telemarketing, e-mailings, mailings, referrals) to network and develop relationships with representatives of target groups and corporate accounts
Builds relationships with owners, colleagues, professional organizations and vendors/suppliers to uncover opportunities, leads, and ultimately sales
Assists with preparing and analyzing facility and price comparisons
Accurately forecast group revenues according to established guidelines
Ensure the proper use of function space and overall event space
Oversee the catering staff at each of the Ranch events
Maximize group revenue by referring available goods, services and attractions
Proactively up-sells to customer needs
Create external communications to include contract addendums, introductory letters, appropriate property information, contracts, proposals and tentative schedule of events for assigned groups.
Manage client satisfaction through smooth execution of all assigned events
Delivering catering sales success; to include prospecting, negotiations and good telephone skills
Generate positive exposure for the resort in the community
Good follow through; taking client events from contract to successful completion
Ability to foresee customer needs and develop long-lasting client relationships
Works with entire resort staff to execute experiential site visits, flawless events and appropriate up-selling
Works with Food & Beverage Director, Banquet Captain and Catering team to execute events, fulfill contractual obligations and exceed expectations
Nurtures relationships with prospective and existing customers and produces sales
Education and/or Experience:
B.S. in sales, marketing, hospitality or related industry preferred
One to three years of catering sales & banquet experience in the hospitality industry required
3-5 years’ experience in Catering Staff management
Passion for hospitality
Takes ownership and accountability of projects and events
Highly resourceful, organized, personable, refined and positive interpersonal skills required
Ability to work a varied schedule, including weekends, holidays and evenings and willingness to travel
Proven track record with Professionalism, accuracy, attention to detail, communication, possess excellent guest service and sales skills, the ability to multi-task, have a positive attitude and a dedicated work ethic
Have computer proficiency with Excel, Word, Power point, etc.
Black Butte Ranch offers a competitive salary, starting at $55,000 + DOE and benefit package.
