Position Overview
The Self-Contained Special Education Teacher/ IEP Case Manager will work with a smaller group of students with disabilities outside the general education classroom. They will also be responsible for ensuring that all students with special learning or emotional needs receive the level and kinds of support that will enable them to succeed. We have small teacher-student ratios, allowing for individualized attention, and our exceptional learners are fully included in the classrooms.Requirements:

Teacher
Plan backward to align all lessons, activities, and assessments
Design assessments that accurately assess student progress and/or incorporate digital assessments
Identify and address individual students’ social, emotional, and behavioral learning needs and barriers
Communicate with students and keep them informed of their progress
Collaborate with other teachers, tutors, and lab monitor(s) to analyze data, group students, teach, and assign interventions
Participate in internal and external professional development opportunities
Assessing learning styles, modalities and interests of students and implement differentiated instruction to meet individual students' needs
Work with general education teacher(s) to determine accommodations and modifications needed to meet the needs of students with disabilities in the general education classroom
Co-plan with classroom support staff
Manage support staff in the classroom and provide feedback to staff to ensure positive instructional outcomes for students
Provide evaluation feedback for instructional support staff to the Director of Special Education
Deliver student instruction in modalities instituted by school and assigned program (may include but are not limited to: Individual or Group Direct Synchronous Instruction, Learning Support, Life Skills Support, Itinerant Support, Resource Room Support, co-teaching, writing lesson plans, telephone conferencing and instruction, Parent Learning Opportunities).

Case Manager
Communicate with families regularly regarding grades, progress, and behavior
Facilitate IEP and Triennial Eligibility meetings
Notify all staff who have contact with the student regarding their individual responsibilities
Collect, analyze, and report data in a meaningful way
Complete all sections of IEP Progress section and Eligibility Determination sections in SEDS
Take copious notes in IEP, Eligibility, and MDT meetings to be faxed or uploaded into SEDS
Hold weekly meetings with students regarding academic and behavioral progress
Develop and Implement IEPs with measurable goals using Progress Monitoring.
Completes all special education paperwork accurately, according to regulations, and on time.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a core content area (eg, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies)
Eligibility for certification in special education area
Teaching experience with opportunity youth at the high school level
Familiarity with research-based instructional methods and curriculum development
Ability to work collaboratively to support student academic and personal development
Knowledge of student-centered instruction, performance-based assessments, and youth development principles
