Supervisor: Talent Acquisition Manager

Department: Human Resources

Founded in 2000, the Milwaukee Academy of Science (MAS) is a K4-12th grade independent charter school serving nearly 1,700 in downtown Milwaukee. The mission of MAS is to graduate students prepared to compete successfully at the post-secondary level. African American students comprise 99% of the student body and over 95% of students qualify for free or reduced meals. Regardless of student background and external factors, MAS maintains the expectation that students should be on grade level and proficient on state assessments.

I. Accountability Objectives:

The Human Resource intern is a temporary position within the HR department, responsible for performing administrative tasks and supporting daily activities. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of our HR policies and procedures. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will be utilized in maintaining accurate employee records and assisting with various HR-related activities. This role provides an opportunity for someone to gain practical experience and insights into HR operations at MAS.

II. Position Characteristics:

Length of Contract: Part-time (20 hours/wk) from Jan 2024 - May 2024 (with the potential of an extension)

III. Position Relationships:

Reports to: Director of Human Resources/Talent Acquisition Manager

Coordinates with: Academy Leaders, Department Leaders, Faculty and Staff

IV. Position Qualifications:

Experience as a staff assistant

Strong comfort level with Google programs

Organizational skills

Familiarity with HRIS, ATS and resume databases

Currently working on a degree in Human Resources Management or similar field

Good understanding of full-cycle recruiting

Basic knowledge of labor legislation

V. Position Responsibilities:

Update our internal databases with new employee information, including contact details and employment forms

Screen resumes and application forms

Schedule and confirm interviews with candidates

Post, update and remove job ads from job boards, careers pages and social networks

Participate in organizing company events and job fairs

Send out background check requests

Prepare HR-related reports as needed

Review and distribute company policies in digital formats or hard copiesRequirements:
