Position Summary:
The Benefits Manager plays a critical role in attracting, retaining and motivating employees by overseeing and being responsible for the supervision and administration of all benefits, leave and retirement programs, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and 401(k) plan. They will be responsible for developing, recommending, and once approved, installing new or modified plans and employee benefit policies. Analyzes cost control of all benefits to assure maximum coverage at the least possible cost to company and employee. Ensures compliance of all benefit offerings with federal and state laws.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administers employee benefits programs such as retirement plans; medical, dental, and vision plans; term life insurance plans; temporary disability programs; and accidental death policies.
Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
Assists with new-hire orientations.
Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
Enrolls employees with carriers and process life status changes.
Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA.
Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities and/or accommodations.
Participates in monthly ACA audits to ensure compliance.
Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment.
Responds to all inquiries regarding our Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Administers and files all employee workers compensation program claims
Ensures COBRA is processed properly and maintains all COBRA compliance
Creates, writes and distributes the monthly benefits newsletter
Serves as the primary contact for all benefit vendors and carriers.
Works with benefit carriers to ensure quality service is continually provided to plan participants.
Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges regarding benefits.
Reconciles and submits all benefit invoices to ensure accurate and proper billing.
Works with payroll and finance to integrate needed employee information into the payroll.
Maintains all enrollment auditing reports to be able to provide ongoing analyses of benefit usage
Assists with the annual renewal and open enrollment process.
Works with the Senior Director of Human Resources to develop and implement overall benefit strategy aligned with company goals and values.
Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations related to benefits administration.
Stays up to date on industry trends, best practices as well as federal and state laws for benefits management.
Performs other duties as assigned.Currently, this position is an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Minimum (5) years of benefits administration experience preferably in the healthcare industry
Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable North Carolina laws.
Strong understanding of multi-state employee benefits applicable laws.
Strong understanding of the healthcare industry especially urgent and primary care
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent decision-making skills
Excellent detail-oriented, organizational and time management skills.
Professional demeanor and business acumen
SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification credential, preferred.
ADP experience preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
This position will be a hybrid role with approximately 80% remote (work from home) and 20% required attendance either at the corporate office in Durham, North Carolina or one of our centers.
