Job Description
Basic Function: The volunteer coordinator is responsible for the development and management of the volunteer program. This position works directly with all aspects of Habitat for Humanity of Madison County including construction, ReStore, family services, volunteers, and the community.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Develop and implement a strategy for actively soliciting, engaging, and maintaining new volunteers
Meet with internal team regularly to determine upcoming volunteer needs and opportunities
Recruit and schedule volunteers to meet the needs of the internal teams
Act as liaison to other organizations who are sending volunteers
Respond to all individual volunteer inquiries
Interview and place volunteers based on their skills and interest for the specific needs of the organization.
Maintain volunteer database and keep records of activities, hours worked and contact information
Provide reports monthly to the ED on previous months activities including information on hours worked, new volunteers and upcoming activities
Develop and implement formal and informal volunteer appreciation program
Prepare job descriptions for all volunteer positions
Communicate regularly with volunteers to gage satisfaction
Ensure that our opportunities nurture a sense of belonging, encouraging long term engagement and a deep commitment to our cause
Arrange for food, snacks and beverages at our work sites and oversee special volunteer lunches
Develop social media posts for recruiting and appreciation
Ensure that all volunteers have completed liability waivers and they are on file in our office
Manage community service volunteers from local jurisdictions
Recruit, train and schedule site hosts
Work with ED to determine what digital tools may be available to help streamline volunteer processes, check in, tracking, waivers, etc.
Ensure proper communication is happening with upcoming groups, dates, times, etc
Work with family services to plan and execute home dedication ceremonies and ground breakings, mortgage burnings
Work with other committees to plan special events, Women Build, Annual Event
Coordinate volunteers for other events, fairs, booths, community events, parades
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director
Required Qualifications:
A proven track record in volunteer management or related fields
Advanced proficiency in digital tools for volunteer engagement and management
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to inspire and unite
A self-starter mentality, capable of leading with minimal supervision and a high degree of autonomy
A deep-seated passion for community service and a talent for nurturing connections
Well organized and detail oriented
Ability to multi-task
Outside meetings and presentations
Some evening and weekends
College degree preferred, but not required
Reliable transportation and valid drivers licenseFull-time equivalent employment status with paid vacation and holidays,
