Summary
The Senior Sales and Proposal Engineer works with our engineering team to develop comprehensive Technical and Commercial proposals for process control systems utilized for electrical and automation modernizations and new installations of mechanical equipment for the metals industry for Melt Shops, Casters, Rolling Mills, and Process Lines utilizing a proactive customer-oriented sales focus.

What you'll do
Develop Technical solutions for sales projects based on project requirements, SMS
standards and similar reference projects
Develop project cost estimates based on the Technical solution utilizing the required vendors and reference estimates
Present SMS Technical solutions to customers as part of the sales activities
Interface and communicate with individuals and units within or outside of the engineering department as well as with customers and suppliers, with responsibility for providing solutions on technical and project-related matters.
Supervision received is mostly administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
Provide guidance and support to younger sales and proposal engineers in the sales
process.
What you’ll need
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Computer
Programming or related engineering or technical degree. Appropriate experience may also be applicable.
Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in an engineering and sales role in the metals or a similar industry, or working for an automation controls, power or drives company.
Background and/or experience in electrical and automation practices and control systems, utilizing programmable logic controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), drives and process models.
Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
Be willing to travel up to 20% of the time to support the project and proposal work, investigation and meetings
Strong aptitude to communicate and exercise effective interpersonal skills with excellent
English oral and written communication skills
Flexible thinking, including the ability to pivot and try new approaches when faced with challenges
Ability to work on multiple projects in various stages simultaneously
Desire to grow into a management position
The candidate must be authorized to work in the United States and be willing to undergo a background check, in accordance with local law/regulations
