Job Description

The QA technicians are certified by the APA and will work closely with all plant personnel to assure the quality of our products. The QA technician has the expectation, responsibility and decision right to resolve all quality problems and ensure that sub-standard product does not get to our customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

Quality Assurance Technicians are responsible for the daily testing of manufactured oriented strand board (OSB) and are responsible for safe task execution, accurate test method execution, accurate data entry of test results and raw material inventory, validation of process variables, assisting operations with process resolution. To that end, these responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Monitor all quality variables in the mill.

Communicate process deviations from target to Shift Supervisor for correction.

Receive deliveries of resin and wax and verify conformance with established specifications.

Monitoring and reporting raw material consumption and inventory levels.

Performing and recording small and large specimen testing as assigned.

Recording relevant process data.

Performing / recording APA required dimension and grade checks.

Inspection of trademarks for legibility and correctness.

Inspection of finished units in the warehouse, documentation and quarantine of non- conforming products.

Down Day Tasks as assigned, including Blender Cleaning and Maintenance

Major Shut Tasks as assigned.

Participate in any product trials.

Operate forklifts and other mobile equipment to manage product testing and quarantine

Perform regular preventive maintenance and clean-up on Lab Equipment

Work safely and effectively in a team environment

Problem solve and troubleshoot equipment and issues on a regular basis

Involvement in ongoing process improvement in the work area

Complete shift paperwork and recordkeeping

Attend team meetings and regular training sessions

Complete required Safety Training on time.

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications are required to successfully perform this role. These are the qualifications that are necessary for someone to be considered for the position. A reasonable accommodation may be allowed for some aspects of the role as determined by Human Resources.

Minimum qualifications include:

Eligible to legally work in the United States

High School diploma or equivalent education

Willing and able to work a 12-hour rotating schedule which will include weekends and holidays

Ability to work as part of a team and deliver value to the team

Willingness and ability to cross-train to learn new jobs and skills

Consistent, predictable attendance

Be willing to cover for Lab Team Members on Vacation or other absence

Specialized knowledge or skills needed:

Ability to maintain all equipment in assigned area

Ability to enhance or improve processes and procedures

Computer Hardware and Equipment Instrumentation Knowledge

Computer Software Knowledge of Excel, Trends, Databases, Word, Email

Strong analytical skills

Self-Starter with Continuous Improvement Vision

Strong communication skills, both written and oral

Leadership — ability to lead, take charge, and offer direction

Engaging others — ability to set and achieve goals through others

Humility to ask for help when needed instead of stagnating

Micrometer use

Tape Measure use

Floor Weigh Scale use

Panel Saw use

Table Saw use

Ability to read and interpret SPC Charts, or ability to learn to with minimal training.
