Roybal-Mack & Cordova, P.C., a deeply rooted and fast-growing law firm in New Mexico, is searching for a mission-driven Chief Operating Officer (COO) to bring structure, strategy, and heart to our operations. If you’re an experienced leader with a gift for translating vision into action—and a passion for serving diverse, often underserved communities—this role may be your calling.

As COO, your primary mission will be to bring structure, focus, and operational excellence to a firm poised for strategic expansion. You will manage day-to-day operations, develop efficient core processes, and lead across functional areas (HR, IT, and general operations), all while freeing up the CEO and other executives to drive business development and vertical growth.

This is a pivotal role for someone who can blend emotional intelligence with tactical expertise, balancing people, process, and performance. You’ll need to earn trust, keep pace with a fast-moving leadership team, and operationalize bold ideas that support the firm’s continued evolution and success.

Compensation

Salary Range: $150,000 - $205,000

Benefits package including medical, dental, and vision

$150,000 - $205,000Responsibilities:

Lead day-to-day firm operations, allowing executives to focus on strategic growth

Mentor and advise legal executives and attorneys to improve leadership capacity and foster a performance-based culture

Design and implement core processes, systems, and policies to ensure operational efficiency

Oversee functional departments (HR, IT, and general operations) and ensure smooth cross-functional collaboration

Operationalize strategic initiatives from the CEO and executive team

Manage the growth and development of the firm’s current legal portfolio

Enable expansion into new verticals through sound infrastructure and team support

Build strong relationships internally and externally, earning trust and influence

Drive a high-performance culture by aligning people, processes, and outcomes across all teams

Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and gaps in systems or communication

Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress toward firm-wide goals

Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies, maintaining the firm’s integrity and reputation

Serve as a stabilizing force during times of growth or transition, providing clarity, leadership, and calm

Champion diversity, inclusion, and equitable practices that reflect the communities Roybal-Mack & Cordova serve

Support recruitment, training, and development of top-tier talent to fuel sustainable growth

Collaborate with finance and legal teams on budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning

Maintain a continuous improvement mindset, evaluating new tools, technologies, and strategies to strengthen the firm’s foundationQualifications:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) preferred

Experience leading a law firm or similar organization is preferred

Proven executive experience in operations, administration, or business leadership

Exceptional emotional intelligence, people skills, and the ability to earn trust across diverse backgrounds

Culturally aware and mission-aligned; a deep appreciation for New Mexico’s people, communities, and challenges

Comfortable working on-site in Albuquerque; understands the value of being physically present for real-time leadership

No legal background required, but preferred; operational excellence and alignment with our values are what matter most
