Job Description
Summary:
The Extrusion Supervisor will supervise a team of extrusion technicians and a lead technician in the manufacturing of HDPE and/or natural gas pipe. This position is directly responsible for the team's safety, quality of manufactured product, and productivity.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Practice proper PPE compliance and maintain a safe working environment and record.
Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, local laws, ordinances, codes, and regulations. As well as, all company policies, standards, specifications, and guidelines.
Supervise personnel to meet or exceed goals and objectives such as, production output, scrap rates, and material utilization.
Work with upper management on recommendations for promotion, demotions, and disciplinary actions of subordinates. As well as, assisting with annual evaluation of team.
Oversee effective and timely changeovers, tear downs, clean outs, and extrusion dies setups on production lines.
Obtain a basic understanding of downstream equipment (pullers, saws, etc.).
Responsible for total housekeeping of plant during the work shift and enforcing all housekeeping policies.
Responsible for shift adherence to safety and quality policies and procedures.
Attend monthly safety training and daily toolbox talks.
Communicate expectations with opposing shift supervisor.
Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
This position should possess the following skills/knowledge:
High school diploma or equivalent, desired.
Strong math, analytical, and mechanical skills
Mechanical troubleshooting and repair abilities.
Strong focus on safety, quality customer service, and productivity
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a manufacturing environment
Ability to operate heavy machinery
Self-motivated and dependable
Punctual with good attendance
Previous manufacturing machine operation or extrusion experience, preferred
Physical Requirements:
Ability to repeatedly lift 75 pounds to a height of 6 feet
Must be able to perform repetitive motion, such as walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, griping, and standing
Clarity of vision and the ability to focus on a fast repetitious operation
Ability to stand and be mobile for a minimum of 12 continuous hours
Ability to work in temperature extremes
